I was on my way to the Hampton's Designer Show House on Tuesday and decided to stop for lunch at my favorite seafood spot in Sag Harbor. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the views from the harbor were spectacular. A quick stroll through town turned into a long afternoon getting reacquainted with one of the Hampton's most charming towns.
Historic Sag Harbor, founded in 1707, is perhaps best known as a whaling port where ships would unload their catch before heading back out to sea. Today, it's a chic summer destination and home to a vibrant writer's colony. Visit the beautiful port town and enjoy its enchanting homes, fantastic restaurants and great antique shopping.
Stunning Art Deco Marquee at the town theater-always shows fabulous movies.
No visit to Sag Harbor is complete without a little antiquing. I love Sage Street Antiques and Ruby Beets-they always have interesting tabletop wares and the inventory is constantly changing.
The American Hotel, one of historic Sag Harbor's landmark buildings, was built in 1846 at the height of the Whaling era. The hotel is sophisticated and elegant -it's fun to sit on the porch for an evening cocktail.

The Fresh Fish and Lobster Hut-serves up local fish and salads that are simple and delicious. Take your plate to a bench and enjoy the view!
Sag Harbor homes are so charming-painted wood clapboard facades with gingerbread ornamentation, sweet wrap around porches and white picket fences.
My favorite retail therapy-Sylvester has great hostess gifts, unique tabletop items and delicious coffeeto go.
I always stop at the Variety Store-a throw back to the Five and Dime stores of the 50's. They carry everything-flip flops, ice cream, hair ribbon even blenders!
