Title : Weather or not?
Weather or not?
We have an old weathervane on top of our house.
It's been there a long time but it's not the original.
The first was a polo player on a pony we've been told.
I would love to find one to replace
this basic horse weathervane,
but can't find one that is affordable!

In 19th-century America, seamen on sailing ships skimming along the New England coast could "map" a town by its weather vanes. There was the church's rooster; there, the butchery's pig, or a stable's steed; and there, in a distant field, a roof-riding plow or cow pinpointing the farm or dairy spread out below it.
