Charlie's 4th Birthday

When my son was about to turn four last September, I asked him what kind of party he wanted, and he said without reservation - a rainbow party. So that's what he got. It was held on a cold, windy September day at my parent's farm in the Southern Highlands.

I made these life size lollipops by hot-glueing two plastic party plates together and attaching to a length of wooden dowel, which I had wrapped in rainbow paper. Then I wrapped the plates in coloured tissue paper  and cellophane and tied with a ribbon.

The birthday cake was made by Sugar Daddy Cake Design, who did Poppy's birthday.

The lollipops were lined up in the garden.

A bouncing castle at a kid's party is the best money ever spent!

Unfortunately, weather in the Southern Highlands can be a bit unpredictable, even in spring, and it got quite cold and blustery, so my decorations didn't stand much of a chance. 

Shane, the Magic Jester, is another investment I would make every time. The kids and adults alike LOVE him! I've seen him about a dozen times and never tire of his jokes.

The inside of the rainbow cake lived up to its name.

Birthday boy was very pleased, although a little bleary eyed, with his new bike.
